OPFOR Drums is a small, custom drum company specializing in one-off drums
and percussion instruments for the discriminating percussionist.   At OPFOR
Drums, we offer a wide variety of options from custom creations to vintage
refurbishing and high-end upgrades to your existing kit.

With more than 24 years of drumming experience, OPFOR drums started as
little more than a basic idea; that everyone should have access to great
drums.  As a self-proclaimed equipment junky, I was always looking for
opportunities to expand my own musical pallet through new styles of drums
and creative sounds.   But equipment can be expensive and good equipment can
be very expensive.  It was this driving belief that I decided good equipment
could be both available and affordable.  10 years later and hundreds of
projects behind us, OPFOR Drums has turned this idea into something special.

What are Special Purpose Drums?

In every musician’s mind, there is an ideal sound that he or she imagines when they think of their unique instrument. It is this internal, natural sound that many musicians spend a lifetime trying to find and replicate. OPFOR Drums uses this back drop as our mantra designing a percussive instrument to truly to fill your “special purpose.”
At OPFOR Drums, we believe that this effort is completely achievable. We engage our clients and work with them to clearly define “that sound” and then recreate it tangibly using a wide selection of construction techniques, materials, finishes, and musical know-how to build as unique an instrument as the client themselves.
“Special Purpose” may also be reflective of a unique drum or percussive instrument that is required for a given musical endeavor. From standard snares to full kits, micro snares to gong bass drums, marching drums to world percussion, there is virtually no limitation to what OPFOR Drums can design and build for the beginner or seasoned professional.

Not all drums are created equal.

The difference at OPFOR drums is in our approach. Our clients are looking for something more than what is readily available off the shelf. They want something special and of the highest quality. Many times, we begin with something the client already has and adjust or improve on it to bring the client closer to the sound without breaking the bank or buying a new product.
